Anders
Anders is a typeface by Paula Mastrangelo, inspired by an arrestingly modular, curve-free alphabet created by English designer and architect Edward Wright (1912–1988) for the 1960 Milan publication Nuovi disegni per il mobile italiano. In Wright’s original work, the letterforms embody a strict geometric logic, reducing the alphabet to a system of rectilinear components that feels at once functional and experimental.
Fascinated by the radical simplicity of Wright’s design, Mastrangelo undertook the challenge of translating it into a complete, contemporary typeface. In doing so, she preserved the uncompromising geometry of the original while expanding it into a versatile character set, suitable for modern typographic needs.
Anders thrives in contexts where attitude and boldness are paramount—artist's websites, logos, signage, computer games, EDM events and recordings, posters, and communication pieces for museums of modern art. As both homage and reinvention, it channels Wright’s mid-century modernist vision while offering designers a rigorous yet playful tool for the present day.
