
Ramiro studied graphic design at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral in Santa Fe, Argentina. After graduating, he taught typography at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. He specialised in type design at the KABK in The Hague and the Plantin Institute of Typography in Antwerp. He has contributed to several design magazines, researched vernacular Dutch lettering, and undertaken numerous freelance assignments for FontShop International, Shinn Type, and Feliciano Type Foundry.
In 2007, he founded the Retype type foundry to market his typefaces. At Retype, he has worked on custom type projects for companies such as Volvo, ETCO, G-Star, and Dyson. In 2015, his research on Amsterdam’s vernacular script was published under the title The Amsterdamse Krulletter.
In 2025, together with Paula Mastrangelo, he began working on Brutal Types, a new foundry focused on radical and experimental display fonts inspired by the interwar avant-gardes.

Paula graduated from EINA, Escola d’Art i Disseny, and is currently based in The Hague. After graduation, she began her career at La Vanguardia, Catalonia’s leading newspaper. With over 20 years of experience, Paula has designed and managed media for numerous prominent local and international firms operating in Spain. Since 2006, she has taught at institutions such as UVic – University of Vic, IDEC – Pompeu Fabra University, and UAB – Autonomous University of Barcelona.
In 2012, Paula further specialized in typography by completing a postgraduate master’s program in type design at EINA School in Barcelona, followed by the Expert Class Type Design course at the Plantin Institute of Typography in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2017. In 2013, she began working independently, collaborating with brands such as Contrapunto BBDO, SurvivorNet, and Regency Creative. In 2025, she became a partner at Brutal Types, designing numerous typefaces for that company: Brinkhuis, Anders, Klinker, Openbaar, Keuken, Evy; among others.

Sabina studied graphic design at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Romania. After graduating, she specialized in type design at EINA in Barcelona and later attended the Type Design Intensive program at the University of Reading. Her work focuses on retail and custom typefaces developed for visual identity systems. She has collaborated on various projects for foundries such as Retype, MCKL Type, Bold Monday, Blast Foundry, and Type-Ø-Tones. Her custom work includes collaborations with design studios and agencies such as Pentagram, Nonspace, and Stupendous Studio. Her research explores archaic Romanian alphabets and italic design. For the Brutal Type collection, she designed the Oldehove typeface.

Mathis studied Communication and Graphic Design at SupdePub in Paris, France. After graduating, he began his career as an Art Director, working with renowned advertising agencies in France and Germany. In 2023, he decided to specialize in brand and type design, channeling his passion and expertise into this new direction. To further enhance his creative and technical skills in type design, Mathis attended the TypeParis Summer Program in 2025.
He works with a variety of techniques, from motion and 3D design to creative coding and illustration, which helps him stay open-minded and flexible in his creative approach. For the Brutal Type collection, he designed the Summerian typeface.

Jolana is an Amsterdam-based Czech designer focused on variable font possibilities, with a keen interest in Arabic script and calligraphy. She studied at UMPRUM in Prague and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Her first typeface was published by studio Moniker, where she also collaborated on large interactive projects for Google, M+, the Galileo Reference Center, and others. Alongside her independent projects, she collaborates with Hadi Type, designs custom identity fonts for clients such as Antih Lab and Herbarium, and has worked on projects like Deezer and Rakbank while at NaN. While working at Black[Foundry], she designed the custom typeface Jott, which later won a gold medal at the Grand Prix Stratégies du Design 2023. For the Brutal Type collection, she designed the Weng typeface.

Daniel studied economics, marketing, graphic design and advertising in Brussels, Belgium. After careers in IT, web-design and specialty coffee, he decided to pursue his love for letters. He enjoys reading about type history as much as collecting books on the subject. He graduated from the Expert Class Type Design at the Plantin Institute for Typography in 2024 and is currently working on several type-related projects. For the Brutal Type collection, he designed the Rebus typeface.

Fabian studied Communication Design at Hochschule RheinMain in Wiesbaden, Germany. During his studies, he focused on type design, exploring constructivist letterforms as well as the potential of animated typefaces. He graduated in 2024 with a type-design-focused project that received a Bronze award at the ADC Talent Award in Germany. Since then, he has been working as a graphic designer and animator while continuing to deepen his expertise in typography. He started as an intern at Retype in 2024 and is now working on typefaces for Brutal Types. He authored the typeface Mossel.
