Huize
Huize is a Deco-style display typeface designed by Ramiro Espinoza and based on the lettering found on the façade of the Huize Tesselschade housing complex at Stadionweg 61–63 in Amsterdam. The building was designed by architect Co Franswa, who may also have created the lettering. These simple, well-balanced letterforms fit naturally within the architectural composition and reflect the clean geometry and experimental typographic spirit characteristic of interwar Dutch architecture.
Espinoza digitized and refined these forms, adjusting proportions and expanding the character set to create a functional and versatile typeface. Huize retains the architectural charm of its source while adapting it for contemporary design use. It works well in logos, posters, signage, cosmetics packaging and advertising, websites, and editorial projects that call for a clear, structured aesthetic with strong Deco influences.
