Kongres
Kongres is a display typeface designed by Ramiro Espinoza and inspired by the lettering of Belgian artist Jozef Peeters (1895–1960). A pioneering abstract painter and designer, Peeters created striking geometric compositions that bridged art and typography, and among his graphic works is a remarkable poster promoting a student conference held in Antwerp in 1922. Its expressive, hand-rendered letterforms—charged with the energy of early modernist experimentation—became the starting point for Kongres. In this digital interpretation, Espinoza has carefully distilled Peeters’s original spirit while adapting the forms into a usable and coherent typeface ideal for posters, exhibitions, book covers, and branding, Kongres is both homage and reinvention—a typeface with historic resonance and modern strength.
