Information

Kring is a condensed display typeface designed by Ramiro Espinoza and inspired by the lettering on a vintage poster for an exhibition organized by the Haagsche Kunstkring, designed by Dutch artist and architect Pieter A. H. Hofman (1886–1965). The original alphabet is characterized by light strokes, condensed proportions, and a highly reduced geometric vocabulary, combining restrained Deco influences with an abstract approach to letterform construction.
Espinoza studied the proportions, geometry, and formal relationships of the original lettering and translated these qualities into a contemporary digital typeface.
With its elegant proportions and delicate geometric forms, Kring is particularly well suited for fashion, beauty, cosmetics, makeup, and fragrance branding, as well as posters, editorial design, packaging, book covers, exhibition graphics, websites, and cultural projects. Its refined, condensed structure gives it a distinctive presence in applications that call for a sophisticated and understated typographic voice, while retaining a clear connection to early twentieth-century Dutch avant-garde design.
