Lachappelle
Lachappelle is a distinctive display typeface inspired by the striking lettering found in a vintage Dutch advertisement for a flooring company. Rendered in a reverse contrast style the original letters exude both eccentricity and confidence. This peculiar alphabet, bears a resemblance to letter forms used by the renowned Dutch artist and Resistance hero Chris Lebeau (1878–1945) in some of his work.
In 2025, Ramiro Espinoza undertook the task of reviving and refining this unique alphabet. He carefully redrew the characters, addressing inconsistencies and expanding the set with accents, punctuation, and symbols to meet the demands of contemporary graphic design. The result is Lachappelle, a fully functional typeface that preserves the charm of the original while offering versatility and precision. Ideal for posters, branding, websites, and expressive branding projects, Lachappelle brings a bold, historical flair into today’s typographic landscape.
