Lasagna
Lasagna is a heavy, geometric display typeface designed by Brazilian designer and fine artist Yomar Augusto. Originally released through Retype in 2008, it now returns in a new edition through Brutal Types, bringing fresh attention to its striking blend of structure and spontaneity. With its rational construction, modular shapes, and playful look, Lasagna reflects Augusto’s background in street art, printmaking, and graphic experimentation.
The name of the typeface was chosen during a dinner at a Rotterdam restaurant with Ramiro Espinoza, where—fittingly—lasagna was eaten.
Lasagna’s forms are rooted in geometry but infused with the tactile, human touch that runs through all of Augusto’s work. Designed for large-scale use, it thrives in posters, book covers, visual identities, and cultural projects where bold typographic presence is key.
