Revolutie
Revolutie is a constructivist-inspired display typeface designed by Ramiro Espinoza and released through Brutal Types. Its origins lie in a chance encounter with a 1930 Dutch edition of History of the French Revolution by Jean Jaurès. While browsing a used bookstore in The Hague in 2025, Espinoza was immediately struck by the book’s bold and angular cover lettering—a composition radiating the tension and optimism of interwar avant-garde design. Though the cover artist remains uncredited, their work left a lasting impression.
Intrigued by its striking presence and historical resonance, Espinoza acquired the book and began developing a typeface that could expand on its expressive visual vocabulary. The result is Revolutie: a modular, sharply geometric typeface with echoes of Dutch expressionism and constructivism, adding a local layer of visual intensity to the mix. With its assertive letterforms and rhythmic repetition, it’s ideal for poster design, logos, websites, and cultural projects seeking bold typographic expression rooted in 20th-century European modernism.
