Vandermey

Vandermey is a modular, compressed sans serif typeface by Ramiro Espinoza, inspired by the lettering on the façade of the former administration building of the Binnengasthuis, located at Binnengasthuisstraat 9 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Created by architect J. M. van der Mey, the building features a distinctive inscription whose design reflect the expressive language of the Amsterdam School.
Espinoza studied the proportions, structure, and rhythm of the original inscription and translated these qualities into a digital typeface for contemporary use. As with all Brutal Types releases, he refined the geometry, improved consistency, and expanded the character set while preserving the bold presence of the source.
With its solid appearance and crisp finish, Vandermey is well suited for branding, editorial design, posters, signage, packaging, websites, and exhibition graphics where space is limited without sacrificing visual impact. Inspired by one of Amsterdam's most distinctive lettering works, the typeface carries the clarity and expressive character of early twentieth-century Dutch design into contemporary graphic practice.
