Zuidholl
Zuidholl is a display typeface designed by Ramiro Espinoza and inspired by the expressive Deco-style lettering on the façade of the former Garage der Zuidholl Bierbrouwerij, located at Spaarnwouderstraat 15 in Haarlem. Situated in the rear yard of the former brewery De Olifant, the building—with an upstairs apartment—was constructed for the Zuid-Hollandsche Bierbrouwerij of The Hague and, from 1900 onward, also included the forecourt at Korte Spaarne.
The original lettering reflects the craftsmanship typical of early twentieth-century commercial signage. Espinoza adapted these forms into a digital typeface that preserves their decorative expressiveness while improving consistency and expanding the character set. Zuidholl is well suited for logos, posters, packaging, signage, websites, and editorial projects that aim to evoke the visual atmosphere of European Art Deco with a practical, contemporary touch.
